Your campsite in the Dordogne

When you spend your holiday in our campsite near Sarlat-la-Canéda, there is an impressive number of things to see and do. You can set out to discover the different facets of Périgord Noir and of the rest of the Dordogne.

First, there’s the natural surroundings. Starting with the rivers – the Vézère and, of course, the Dordogne, synonymous with the department. You can discover these rivers as you ride along on your bicycle, on water in a kayak or on-board a gabarre flat-bottomed boat, or as you climb along a via ferrata route. Water-based activities are the ideal way to see more of the region in the summer season. And don’t miss out on other local gems such as the Gouffre de Proumeyssac cave, the Lascaux caves, and the forests that cover large areas and are definitely worth exploring.

The Dordogne was also strongly marked by the Middle Ages, as can be seen in the many bastides and medieval villages in the Périgord. Visit some of the finest castles from that period, such as Castelnaud, Beynac, and Les Milandes. These magical places recount the eventful past of this area, which was once fought over by the crowns of France and England.

Your stay at the Domaine des Chênes Verts campsite will also be a chance to sample the local Périgord produce. Think duck, truffles, Bergerac wines, ceps and walnuts… Savour memorable meals that are sure to leave a lasting impression on the gourmets among you!

Finally, because our campsite is in Calviac-en-Périgord, you’ll be close to the Lot department too. That means you can take a trip to Rocamadour, for example, or to the well-known Gouffre de Padirac cave system.
